Super Eagles: Adepoju Predicts Brighter Future for Nigeria’s Attackers
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Former Super Eagles player, Mutiu Adepoju has stated that the Nigeria senior men national team has got huge potential in the attack line but no competition yet despite the impressive showing of the attacking duo of Victor Oshimen and Paul Onuachu for the U23 and senior national team (Super Eagles) of Nigeria respectively.

Adepoju speaking on the stellar performance of the two forward players said they showed potential and promise but still won’t be enough to challenge Jude Odion Ighalo who has done it over a period of time and proven already to the point of even emerging as the top goal scorer of the just concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019) qualifying campaign.

He added that it is something good for Nigeria already to have players showing hunger and ambition already and would need consistency to be so measured alongside Ighalo.

Super Eagles of Nigeria qualified for AFCON 2019 as group leaders ahead of South Africa, Libya and Seychelles while the Under 23 side needed the help of Victor Osimhen’s hatrick to come back from a first leg 2-0 deficit to defeat Libya 4-0 in the return leg and qualify 4-2 on aggregate for the final round of CAF U23 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers.
