Osun Babes’ of Osogbo, Osun state, battled relegation during 2018-2019 Nigeria Women Premier League and retained their league status after victory during the playoffs.

The club new recruit from Delta Queens, Sunday Blessing Orvegwe is optimistic that Osun Babes’ can win the 2019-2020 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) title as they prepare to face Adamawa Queens in their season opener after COVID-19 pandemic break.

“Yes of cause. The Osun Babes I know are ready and strong for any club, and we are going to defeat Adamawa Queens for sure. I am a new player here after leaving Delta Queens for football reasons. Next season, I want to win the title with Osun babes.” She told kick442.com

Osun Babes’ were able to earn one (1) point from six (6) games last season, Sunday Blessing Orvegwe said that preparation is in top gear for her as she is training indoor during this pandemic induced break.

“The preparation for next season is still going on. I am training at home making sure I keep my fitness level. I support the postponement of the league because health is wealth and due to how fast the virus spreads.”

The Omoluabi Queens will play the likes of defending Champions, Rivers Angels, Ibom Angels, Royal Queens, FC Robo Queens, Heartland Queens, Delta Queens and Adamawa Queens in Group B. The former Royaltom Football Academy, Rising Queens, Katsina Queens and Jokodolu Babes player opined that Group is a tough group but Osun Babes’ can qualify for the Super 4 from the group.

“Group B is a tough group for us (Osun babes) and I believe all the teams are in good shapes and I know we will make it through. Yes, am okay with the league format. At least, it is better than last seasons where we only played six matches. The rebranding of the league shows that our league is improving.”The central defender concluded.

Sunday Blessing Orvegwe also featured for Nigeria Women Under 17 side (Flamingos) in their two legged FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers where the team defeated Guinea 11-2 on aggregate to advance to he final qualifying stage where Nigeria will square up with Ghana.
