Sudanese Football Federation has had an emergency meeting with its stakeholders this Sunday, June 28, to discuss the future of the beautiful game in the country.
The 16 Board members of the country’s highest football institution, headed by Professor Kamal Hamed Ibrahim Shaddad, President of the Council, and the first deputy Major General Human Rights Dr. Amer Abdel Rahman, plus all deputies and 10 other members [some members via video conference] deliberated on the future of the country’s domestic football championship.
A voting system was adopted to decide the future of the competition. Nine delegates supported resumption to complete the sports season, while seven delegates were for the option to cancel the 2019/2020 season.
In the end, it was resolved that football activities would return after the Council approved it.
The delegates have picked August 15 as their resumption date.
The organizing committee has been task to provide health guidelines for resumption of the competitions.
At end of the meeting, Professor Kamal Shaddad said that they will transmit the decision to the higher health authorities, so as to pave way for return the activities in strict respect of respected health protocols.
He revealed that a financial support of 150 Thousand Sudanese pounds per Club will be handed to all 17 Clubs.
Before the Suspension of the championship due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus pandemic in March, most of the Clubs had played 24 of their 32 games in the top-flight Championship.
So far, Al Hilal Omdurman with 51 points lead Al Merreikh and Hilal Obayed by three points.
