On Saturday, the city of Al-Abyad in Sudan witnessed the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Sudanese Women’s Football League, and the ceremony began with singing and dancing to the rhythm of the heritage of the West, and witnessed the presence of a number of members of the Sudanese Federation and the media from channels, newspapers and radio stations from inside and outside Sudan, and the President of the Local Union in Al-Abyad.
The opening match brought together Hilal Al-Abyad and Al-Mawrada in the Al-Abyad group, which includes Al-Hilal, Al-Merreikh, Al-Mourada and Al-Salam, and Hilal Al-Abyad won seven goals without charge.
The inauguration was honored by Mervat Hussein, a member of the Sudanese Football Association and the head of the Women’s Football Committee, where Mervat spoke and expressed her thanks to the government of North Kordofan State, the Federation, colleagues in the sports media and the entire football family in all parts of Sudan, and she confirmed that 23 teams will participate in the championship bringing together over
700 players.
She added that the reason for choosing Al-Abyad is because when the football campaign started the previous year, Al-Abyad organized the first tournament in Ramadan.
“When we addressed the federation to register women’s clubs, Al-Abyad registered five clubs at once, and we were keen to move the league between states and the tournament system differs next year within the framework The tournament is developing, and she thanked the local federation in white for the carnival camels.”
The members of the Sudanese Federation mission and the media delegation accompanying the mission received a distinguished reception at the end.
