Mogaï Cecilia, who plays for Awa Filles FC in the Cameroon Women’s championship says the propagation of the coronavirus in Cameroon can be stopped by respecting all measures put in place by the Government of Cameroon and the World Health Organisation.
“Personally, I always stay at home, and I scrupulously respect the hygiene measures given by the World Health Organisation.
If we all do this, we will effectively stop the spread of the Covid-19 in our country”, Mogaï told kick442.com.
Just like other football competitions in the country, the Cameroon women’s championship had been suspended since March 17. Mogaï like other female footballers in the country have been taking personal physical exercises to stay fit.
The right back who can also play in the centre of defense says it’s a very difficult moment for them but they have to remain in prayers.
“It is a very difficult moment for us, we didn’t prepare for this but we have to remain in prayers because only God has the final say.
Meanwhile, it is important for us to respect all the measures given to be free from the virus”, Mogaï said.
Prior to the suspension of the championship, Mogaï Cecilia was in scintillating form for her club Awa FC. Her defensive prowess and ability to go forward from the right back position is one of the reasons behind her team’s performance this season.
She attributes her performance this season to her coach, Hassa Ibrahim Balla, who she says succeeded to maintain her form despite the difficulties of the season. Despite picking up a knee injury early into the season, she recovered and did well whenever she is given the chance.
Awa Filles FC is currently ranked 2nd on the Cameroon women’s championship with 46 points, same number of points with leaders Louves Minproff.
