The manager of Scottish Premier League Club Glasgow Rangers has reacted to reports linking the Club to in-form Cameroon forward Jean-Pierre Nsamé.
Speaking after their one-nil win against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League season-opener on Saturday the ex-Liverpool legend was categorical on the issue.
“We’re close on a couple of things that are brewing away but Nsame isn’t a name we should be linked with,” he said.
Reports had emerged from kick442.com earlier in the week linking the 36-goals Young Boys Berne striker to the historic Scottish Club.
Nsamé had a great game against Celtic last season in the UEFA Europa League but Gerrard says the speculations are unfounded as the Club is focused on bringing in other targets but not Nsamé, at least for now.
“There are many other names out there, but I can’t control that. We can’t go much longer with just one fit forward. I want one in yesterday.”
Jean-Pierre Nsamé has also been linked with a move to French Ligue 1 side AS Saint Etienne,English Premier League trio West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton but remains focused on his Club’s remaining fixtures of this campaign.
