The President of FECAFOOT North West Mbigah Felix have revived the hope of football die hearts in the region for a good football infrastructure while supporting participating teams in the on-going Bamenda Solidarity Pre-season Tournament.
At the usual venue of the tournament St Paul Field Mile 3 Nkwen, the prolific sports man appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee constituted of Nji Nelson, Ndi Tsembom Elvis, Tama Collins, for planting such an initiative to promote football in the region and built more talents like Fai Collins, while handing to participating teams the sum of 25,000 FCFA each.
“This pre-season tournament is for us to test and see if we are prepared for the upcoming season. And I believe this year will be the best of the seasons we have ever had with Eto’o fils as President of FECAFOOT. We are doing all our best to see that we encourage and promote football in our nation, most especially in our region.”
The North West region counts a total of six teams in Cameroon’s top-tier championships (PWD, YOSA, Vision Sports, Foncha Street, Rangers FC, ItahMbong) without a good turf for these talents to use as home pitch or exercise the talents in them. This has been the general cry of the people of the region for years.
All hopes are not lost as President Mbigha Felix says discussions and arrangements are on-going with the new President of FECAFOOT Samuel Eto’o Fils to solve the stadium deficiency in the region.
“We have had several meetings with the president and we are looking for a land to have our own field, and work is expected to start in some months ahead.”
The first ever Bamenda Solidarity Pre-season Tournament was initially planned to proceed to direct finals after the group stage by the two teams that shall lead the two pools. From the President’s words, FECAFOOT North West will want to step in and support the participating teams for a semi finals to be played before the finals, a decision to be concluded by the organising committee.
