Stade Renard of melong were crowned winners of the 60 edition of the Cameroon cup, following their 3#2 win over AS FAP of Yaoundé this Sunday June 30, 2019, at the Yaoundé Omnisport Stadium. Stade Renard has witnessed a mass upturn in form this season under Coach Aboubakar Souleymanou. Finishing in the top five in the just ended league one season, and Cameroon cup winners, this year has really been a successful one for the boys of President Jean Kuete.
The man who has masterminded the massive turn around for the Melong based club, Aboubakar Souleymanou is not carried away with his side’s recent exploits, as he set targets for future competitions. Speaking after his side’s cup triumph this Sunday, Coach Aboubakar said “we have to prepare the continental games. We will have to bring in two or three players, who will add to reinforce the team, and I hope we will have enough strength to defend our country”.
Reacting to being the man who led Stade Renard to their first ever national trophy, Aboubakar Souleymanou added “I’m very satisfied because it is the first that am winning the Cameroon cup. It is the aim of every coach, and I’m satisfied”.
Stade Renard took the lead through Jules Hypolite, but Achillle Mba put the game on parity, before further goals from Jules Hypolite and Aristide Kouayeb gave them the win, despite Herve Elondou’s late goal and nervy end to the game from Stade Renard, but Aboubakar Souleymanou revealed the tactical Masterpiece that gave them the win. “I told the players to player easily without tension. We expected this kind of tough game, but now we are the winners”.
The former Feutcheu of Bandjoun tactician has now written his name in history as the first ever coach to win the Cameroon cup with Stade Renard, has the team joins 24 others, who have tasted the cup in over 60 editions staged.
