PWD of Kumba earned a well deserved win against LiFCA of Limbe thanks to an early goal from their prolific goal scorer Namse Ebile Kelson.
A foul from LiFCA centre back Tientcheu Boniface on the dazzling Moses Itua of PWD was sanctioned by a penalty by referee Akwa Agock Bertrand and Ebile stepped forward and made no mistake for his second goal in the mini-interpools from the spot at the 9th minute of the game.
The game was relatively balanced with both teams creating half chances and neither goalkeeper was really tested till the end of the second half.
In the second segment of the game, PWD of Kumba took all the attacking initiatives through Betrand Takie Ngah and Moses Itua but did not get the much needed breakthrough.
The front line of LiFCA was well caged by captain Bibish Abane and Ernest Ochoe in the heart of the PWD defense. They comfortably silenced Gwe Beckly and Mbongo Clovis of LiFCA.
A tame header from Beckly and a wide shot with a gaping goal within five yards from substitute Nyenty Nyenty Patou who came in for Mbongo Clovis were the best attempts to level tally from LiFCA.
PWD of Kumba kept their goal threat alive as Moses Itua and left back Blassius Ajomo drew two superb saves from goalkeeper Festus Ebere from two well taken free-kicks.
The boys of coach Bessong Maxwell looked set for their first win of the regional playoffs but a fine cross from Itoe Sarine fell to an unmarked Nyenty Nyenty Patou in the box unfortunately for LiFCA his weak shot was calmly gathered by goalkeeper Fule Clinton of PWD to the disappointment of a very agitated coach Ernest Agbor on the sidelines.
A last minute free kick for LiFCA left supporters of PWD of Kumba on the edge of their seats but it produced no results as referee Akwa Agock Bertrand sent both players and supporters of PWD to scenes of wild jubilation.
A very elated coach Maxwell Bessong appreciated his team and the supporters.
“I want thank all those who have supported us, especially the fans here today, and I have seen that hard work pays and a special thank you to my players.”
Coach Abgor Ernest will now reflect and strategize for the last game against the Njalla Quan Sports Academy on Saturday July 20, 2019 in Limbe which partly explains why he kept a low profile when approached by the press after the game today.
PWD of Kumba will try to beat Continental Football Academy in the last game and why not clinch the ticket for the national round robbing tournament for the south West Region.
