During the distribution of Southwest’ FECAFOOT Covid-19 relief package to amateur football players of the Regional League, on Thursday August 13, President Ndive Thomas – demanded actors keep a minute of silence in memory of former indomitable Lions captain, Stephen Tataw.
Like the name personified, Stephen Eta Tataw hailed from the southwest region, where he mastered his football art before courting and catching club juggernauts out of the country.
A former player of Cammack Kumba in the 80’s, Tataw raised the region’s flag highest, especially at the 1990 World Cup. It was almost like a package the southwest had related to the rest of the world, with a caption: ‘from southwest to the world with love.’
The former indomitable Lions right back was well acquainted with the southwest region, from Kumba to Mutengene. With all the special deeds, asking for a minute of silence, by president Ndive was somewhat inevitable.
Stephen Tataw passed away on July 31, 2020. His death dissolved hearts of the Lions into tears.
