The South African Football Association has banned Matiyasi FC for life, after the Limpopo based club scored 59 goals in a single game on Tuesday May 31st, against 1 for Nsami Mighty Birds while chasing promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.
Matiyasi FC were banned alongside three other sides, after they were found guilty of match-fixing. The South African FA investigated the result after 41 of the goals were all own goals by Mighty Birds.
Matiyasi were third in the tussle for ascension into the ABC Motsepe league, with 18 goals behind on goal difference.Adding to the life banned was a five year suspension on the officials of both teams.
In another game, Shivulani Dangerous Tigers imposed a 33-1 beating on Kotoko Happy Boys , with seven own-goals recorded.
