As they don’t want to publicly say they are getting rid of any member of the current technical staff, the executive board members of Cotonsport of Garoua have created a technical coordination unit for the club and appointed former Indomitable Lions of Cameroon goalkeeper, Souleymanou Hamidou as the president.
The release published this Monday states the Souleymanou led commission has one member in Haman Gabriel.
The board has mandated both appointees to fully involved in the technical and tactical aspects of the the club including training sessions, technical meetings amongst others.
The 15 times winners of the Cameroon League one championship are currently experiencing their worst spell in the top flight since they were promoted over 20 years ago.
The Garoua-based side has a depleted squad with over five of their first team players and their head coach Ndoumbe Bosso distracted by what Cameroon’s team is doing in preparation for the 2020 African Nations Championship, CHAN this April on home soil.
Their absence has coincided with a difficult run for Cotonsport as the club has moved from overwhelming title favourites with a five points lead to strugglers in the third spot with no win in their last 8 games.
Fans of the club are hopeful the introduction of the the duo especially Under 23 Lions goalkeeper, Souleymanou will work “magic” for the Garoua giants who have not won the title since they last did in 2018.
Kick442.com understands Ndoumbe Bosso’s contract with the club will run out by the end of March and Cotonsport will not give him a new one.
Cotonsport of Garoua will hope leaders Colombe and second-placed PWD of Bamenda drop points in the remaining 12 games without which their dreams of recovering the title they lost to UMS last season may end as a nightmare.
