Cameroon and Napoli midfield maestro Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa provided an assist in his club’s 2-3 defeat to Empoli in their latest Serie A outing last Sunday at the Stade Carlo Castellani.
Lorenzo Insigne’s goal for the boys of coach Luciano Spalletti was made by Zambo Anguissa as Napoli who had taken the through Dries Martens just before the break made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute.
Three late goals in the final ten minutes from Empoli completely changed the contest to their thus reducing Napoli’s efforts to a pointless mission.
Just when Napoli fans had started celebrating a 2-0 win heading into the last ten minutes, substitute Liam Henderson pulled one back for the host at the 80th minute.
Italian striker Andrea Pinamonti then scored twice in four minutes, starting from the 83rd minute to complete the dramatic comeback victory.
Though there was some joy about Zambo’s first goal involvement of the season, his club lost the game in a cruel fashion.
The Match-Day 34 defeat further dampens Napoli’s title hopes as they are now third on the log, seven points away from leaders AC Milan and five off second seeded Inter who have a game in hand.
Zambo’s assist is his first in 21 Serie A games this season and first in 26 games in all competitions.
Napoli will host Sassuolo next weekend in a Match-Day 35 fixture at the Stadio San Paolo.
