On the wishlists of some of Europe’s elite clubs, 17-year-old highly rated Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is in dilemma over his future.
The native of Miconge, in Cabinda – Angola moved to France at the age of 5. He joint Rennes’ academy in 2013 and break into their first team in 2019.
He featured in 25 league games in the 2019/20 season, scoring one goal and has attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and many other top clubs.
His Senegalese teammate Mbaye Niang has not been indifferent to the interest on him and has given him some valuable advice.
“The advise I have given him as someone I think has his head firmly rooted on his shoulders, knowing his parents, who certainly know his career ambitions, is to make the right choices,” Niang said on an Instagram conversation.
“I had spoken about it with him (…) in life it’s better to make the right choices rather than try to progress very fast.
“Because at one point in time you have suitors that you ask yourself: ‘How can I turn down people like Zidane and Mourinho if I get a call from them?’ That’s the time for you have to calm down and ask yourself: ‘How can these guys be of help to me?’
“Rennes’ coach Julien Stephan has helped you a lot in your progress, if you leave to any of these teams, are they going to help you even more, are they going to make you better?
“These are the things he has to think about very seriously because bad choices have far reaching consequences.”
Niang himself has been linked with a move away from Roazhon Park, with Marseille reported to be interested in the services of the former AC Milan and Torino forward who scored 15 goals in 36 appearances for Rennes this season across all competitions, with 10 of them in his 25 French Ligue 1 matches.
