The much-anticipated DARE TO BE A CHAMPION CHALLENGE game organized by the Management of Grace Meridian School, Lekki –Lagos is set to kick off this coming Saturday.
According to a top Management staff of Grace Meridian School, all preparation is in place to make the day a success, from facilities, equipment, logistics, and security just to mention but a few.
She continued “We want to make history with this event and we want all the pupils participating from different schools to have fun and instantly look forward to the next edition come next year.”
The whole idea of the Dare To Be A Champion Challenge is to join the rest of the world to celebrate the children and to constantly remind all the participating pupils that they are potential champions irrespective of their career choice either academics or sports.
Few schools have been invited to participate in the maiden edition of the challenge in the boys and girls categories, for both Primary (lower and upper) and secondary school (Junior secondary).
Soccer (5-aside), Basketball, Tennis, and gymnastics display are some of the sports that would be featured in this maiden edition.
Lebanese International School- Yaba, Linsy School-Lekki, Indian Language School- Ilupeju, and PVIK Schools- Ikoyi have all indicated interest in participating in the maiden edition of Dare To Be A Champion Challenge at the time of this report.
In an interview with the Physical Education (P.E) teacher of Lebanese International School- Yaba, Mr. Charles Oribhabor, he wasted no time appreciating the management of Grace Meridian School for creating a platform to celebrate the children through sports.
The former British International School educator continued “this is a laudable initiative, I must confess and we must give kudos to Grace Meridian School.
“We are happy to be part of the maiden edition and we believe this would bring a healthy sporting relationship between the two schools”
When asked how he thinks his school’s performance will be on the event day? he has this to say “the whole idea is to celebrate the children and help harness their potential. Our school (pupils) will compete by the rules and regulations governing each game and I believe in the end they will make me and the entire school proud”
The event would take place at the Gymnastic Hall, National Institute for Sports, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, on Saturday 28th May 2022 between 9 am to 2 pm local time.
All participating pupils will go home with a certificate of participation and trophies would be given to outstanding schools in each category.
