Fintiri Babes as Adamawa Queens were fondly called made history last season in the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) by qualifying for the Super 4 for the first time in the club’s history, conceding one goal in six games during the regular season, before conceding six goals in two Super 4 games. The club defender, Sandra Johnosi is of the view that the club really learned from last season’s experience and will work hard to make history again by making it to the Super 4 next season as well as surpassing last season’s feat.
“Every Achievement and history is determined from preparation. We Adamawa Queens (Fintiri ladies) are fully ready for the surprise package this season, with our determinations and mobility, we aimed to qualify for super 4, not just to qualify but to make history at the super 4 tournament (None of we All of God).” She told kick442.com
Sandra Johnosi also supported the postponement of the league in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
“There’s life after football. In other word there’s wealth after health, I support the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Board and the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Management for the postponement of all the football league, our life should be secured before any further achievement by the football federation.”
She also said that in spite of the CoronaVirus pandemic which snow balled into compulsory holiday for all and sundry, personal preparation and training is in top gear in preparation for next season.
“As a professional footballer, you don’t need to be told before u keep urself fit. With this CoronaVirus pandemic period, I am training hard to bring out the best in me this season, None of me All of God.”
Adamawa Queens will travel to Osogbo to square up with Osun Babes in their Match Day One 2019-2020 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership fixture.
Sandra opined that the match would be a tough one but is optimistic about a good result in Osogbo.
“Our first league match with Osun Babes away will be a physical game. Both teams are prepared to secure 3 point if possible the best of all the both teams will be seen in the first match. I believe that we Adamawa Queens (Fintiri Ladies ) will do everything possible to secure 3 point against Osun Babes because we are fully ready for the league at large.”
Sandra Johnosi also supported the abridged league format as she asserted that it would help avert walkovers and improve players welfare.
“With the standard of the teams welfare, I think I support the motion of the abridged league to avoid work over in the league at large. Even with the abridged league we still find some teams finding it difficult in to adopt good player’s welfare.”
Sandra Johnosi concluded by lauding the Aisha Falode led NWFL board for rebranding the league.
“With the new Logo and name, I think our league will get better soonest. I really want to appreciate the Chairperson and other board members of the NWFL for this great work they have put in place. I pray for more strength to do more for the NWFL in a long run.”
Adamawa Queens last season under Coach Jacob Vandi made it to the Super 4 but lost 2-0 to Confluence Queens and 4-0 to Bayelsa Queens at the Super 4 tournament in Lagos. Sandra Johnosi and the Fintiri Ladies will hope to surpass last season feat as the team still have core of last season’s players in their fold.
