Liverpool and Senegal forward Sadio Mane is already considering a Premier League title challenge for next season, irrespective of what happens in the 2019-2020 season.
Though most top-flight clubs will like to see the season completed, 27-year-old Senegalese international, Mane has already set his sights on next season.
Mane has come out to say that, if Liverpool fail to win the Premier League this season as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, then they will try to win it next season.
The former Southampton forward and reigning African Player of the Year has said it will be wonderful and a dream come true for him to win the English league title, though he is also thinking about the millions of people around the world affected by the current pandemic.
Asked whether he was feeling like a champion, given Liverpool’s massive 25 points gap at the top of the Premiership log over Manchester City, Mane said:
“I think not yet. I love my job and love football, I want to win on the pitch,” he told TalkSport.
“I want to win the games and I want to get the trophy, it’s what I would love. But with this situation, whatever happens I will understand.
“It has been difficult for Liverpool, but it has been more difficult for many millions of people around the world.
“Some people have lost family members and that is the more complicated situation.
“But for myself, it’s my dream and I want to win it this year. If that’s not the case, I will accept it, it’s part of life.
“Hopefully we will win it next year.”
Mane has scored 14 goals and provided 7 assists in 27 league games for Liverpool this season.
