Ruth Usoro was on sung at the Texas Tech Corky Classic dazzling in the triple jump event and showing class at the long jump event afterwards.
She leaped high in her first attempt in a personal best of 14.28m at the indoor games to break a National Record becoming the first Nigerian woman to surpass 14m indoors.
The feat of TJ PR of 14.28m (46-10¼) made her the Number two performer in Collegiate history behind Keturah Orji of Georgia Track and Field.
She followed that up with a 14.07m (46-2) effort in second round and passed on all of her other 4 attempts. Her jump was just 4cm short of the Olympic qualification mark.
Usoro continued in her fine form at the Texas Tech Corky Classic in the Women’s Long Jump event as she made a jump of 6.51m to set a new Meeting Record and replace the previous of 6.44m held by Mercy Abire.
She finished ahead of Tara Davis who reached 6.24m, while Monae Davis placed 3rd with 6.18m.
