Cameroon football legend Albert Roger Milla, is set to regroup global football legends in a special 70th anniversary celebration in Yaoundé later this month.
Born on 20 May 1952, Milla will turn 70 on May 20th, 2022, and has announced that there will be a gala match at the Yaoundé Omnisport Stadium to mark his Seventh decade on planet earth.
“I am Roger Milla. On May 20th, my family and friends have decided to organize my 70th birthday. I invite all my friends to participate in this ceremony on Saturday 20th for my birthday and on May 21st, there will be a gala match. I’m counting on everyone,” Roger Milla said in Video.
“I count on everyone who encouraged me during my career to be there.”
Many football legends from Africa and accross the globe, are expected to attend this special event.
Milla disclosed that former Togolese goal poacher, Emmanuel Adebayor, Former Nigeria ball joggler, Jay Jay Okocha, Raymond Kalla, Geremie Njitap, Samuel Eto’o, Senegalese duo El Hadji Diouf and Fadiga, French legend Marcel Desailly, and Spanish icon Michel Salgado, are amongst those expected for the event.
Former indomitable lion, Jules Denis Onana, has been appointed as the president of the organizing committee for the event.
Roger Milla is one of the most celebrated football icons accross the globe, following his brilliant performances during his playing days.
Milla is two times African Ballon D’or winner, won two AFCON titles with the Indomitable Lions, three time Cameroon Champion, two time winner of the French cup and the African Best footballer of the 20th century.
His standout performance at world cup 1990 and his record breaker in 1994 when he became the oldest player to ever score at a world cup at the age of 42, remains some of his remarkable achievements.
