Alexandre Takounda after having missed out of the home game against Zambia in the last round of the Tokyo Olympic qualifiers, has made the gaffer’s list in place of Flora Kameni for the reversed fixture.
The 19-year-old Cameroonian forward who plays her club football for local club Eclair of Sa’a was dropped in the first leg by head coach Alain Djeumfa in favour of teenage goal-hunter and Cameroon Women’s League highest goalscorer, Flora Kameni.
Alexandre Takounda has grown through the ranks of the junior categories over the years and her potential is no news to those who have seen the connection between herself and the leather object.
It will be as difficult as it could get for Takounda to get a lead role in Lusaka, Zambia, but she is one who can climb off the bench with the goods as indeed as she showed in the 2019 WWC with her flicked header that led to Ajara’s historic goal against New Zealand. The game comes up on Tuesday, March 10.
