2019 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Champions, Rivers Angels on Thursday failed to capitalise on Bayelsa Queens dropped points as they forced host, DreamStar FC Ladies to a 1-1 draw in their week nine tie at Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium, Lagos.
Kalu Favour scored her first goal of the season for the Galacticas in the 21st minute as the Lagos-based side attempt to cause a major upset on unbeaten Rivers Angels.
Deborah Abiodun’s long-range strike in the 85th minute salvaged a point for Rivers Angels as their five games winning streak came to a halt. The Port Harcourt-based side remained unbeaten in the league after nine games.
The result was DreamStar FC Ladies’ first draw of the season and Rivers Angels’ third draw of the campaign.
Bayelsa Queens remained top of the league table with a point advantage over Rivers Angels after being forced to a 1-1 draw by Osun Babes in Osogbo on Wednesday.
Rivers Angels will play another Lagos-based side, FC Robo Queens in their next game, while DreamStar FC Ladies travel to play Sunshine Queens of Akure in their next game.
Meanwhile, former Nigerian international and Principals Cup ambassador, Tajudeen Disu who was at Soccer Temple to watch the game says the referee was unfair on the home team with questionable officiating which ensured that Rivers Angels picked a point in Lagos.
