The Cameroon League 1 championship has always been a fertile breeding ground for players from around smaller African country in terms of football history and nowadays Chad can boast of the highest number of foreign players in the Cameroon Professional football Picture.
Last’s season’s deputy top Scorers Marius Mouandilmadji now on the books of FC Porto is one of the biggest Chadian performer in Cameroon recently.
This Wednesday,two foreign players scored in the Cameroon League 1 championship while a handful of others were on the headlines for different reasons.
21 year old Brazilian forward Alef Firmino made his second appearance for Union Sportive of Douala but failed to get a goal as USD shared the spoils with Avion of Nkam.
Coach Love Pogne of Cameroonian roots with a Brazilian Nationality gave Firmino 75 minutes on the field before taking him off after he attempted on target on one occasion.
The veteran center forward and all time top scorer for Cotonsport of Garoua scored his 12 goal in all competition and his 7th in the League this season against Colombe Dja to crown a sweet afternoon for the Cotonites who had to come from behind to beat Colombe Dja.
Kamilou scored the 4th goal and the game ended on a 4-1 scoreline.
The goal in Garoua means Kamilou has hit the back of the net 5 times in 5 games in Garoua this season.
Arnaud Sibiri-Burkina Faso🇧🇫
The 21 year old Made his 12 league appearance for Cotonsport since joining the club in January from Burkina Faso ASF Bobodiolaso.
After providing two assists in his previous appearances,Arnaud finally scoed his first goal for Cotonsport of Garoua against Colombe.
His goal was the 2nd in the game and he was on for the entire game.
Speaking to kick442.com after the game ;
“I think it was important I get this goal for my confidence and our confidence as a team,now I have to work harder to see that I improve by end product.
Aboubakar Konate is another Burkinabe on the books on the Cotonsport but he wasn’t involved in this one.
Chad🇦🇩- 3 players
The classic holding Midfielder was given a place in YOSA’s starting XI in Bamenda that faced AS Fortuna and played his part to seal the Midfield and ensure YOSA took at least a point at home to visiting Fortuna.
In the same game,Serge Diguel of YOSA was also between the sticks for the club.
Diguel has played in all 12 matches played by YOSA this season.
He conceded a goal in the game but remained one of the club’s performers in the game with a couple of points winning saves.
He was in the heart of the Colombe Dja defense that Cotonsport put in 4 against.
Ndoumban in his 10th appearance alongside Djob Lidjoh at the back this season looked like a normal defender before Kamilou and co.
The young now Under 23 International for Congo was in the New Stars team that was held to zero all draw by visiting APEJES of Mfou.
He had 50 minutes on the pitch but couldn’t add to his goal tally this season.
Cyrille recently got his first called up for Congo in the last Round of the Under 23 AFCON Qualifiers following an impressive performance for New Stars in the CAF Confederation cup.
More is expected of these foreign players this Sunday.
