Newly-selected Indomitable Lions of Cameroon midfielder Andrew James Lea Siliki of French Ligue 1 championship side Stade Rennes played a part in his side’s 1-0 win at home to Strasbourg on Sunday in the domestic championship.
Though the Cameroonian started the game on the bench, newly-appointed French trainer Bruno Genisio brought on the midfielder in the second segment to seal the middle of the park and conserve the one-goal advantage his side had had from the 25th minute thanks to R Bourigeaud.
Despite tge multiple incursions from the visitors, Rennes protected the lead till the break.
Upon resumption for the second segment, both sides improved but the second goal eluded them.
The scorer Bourigeaud was replaced in the 76th minute while Siliki came on in the 82nd minute to protect the midfield till the end.
At full-time, it was total jubilation for Lea Siliki and his mates as they picked up their first victory since the start of 2021 and first win under coach Bruno Genisio.
Siliki is amongst players recently invited for Cameroon’s two AFCON qualifiers games against Rwanda and Cape Verde Island later this month.
Lea holds a French passport but is eligible to represent Cameroon by descent though he has feature for the youth selections of France.
