Remo Stars pipped Wikki Tourist 1-0 to return to the third position on the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table on Sunday.
Olamilekan Adedayo’s beautiful finish in the 26th minute gave the Sky Blue Stars a slim win in the Matchday 26 encounter at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State.
The result ensured that Remo Stars complete a league double over Wiki Tourist after defeating them 2-1 in Bauchi in the first leg.
Enugu Rangers’ 0-0 draw with MFM FC in Lagos ensured that Remo Stars will return to the third position with 43 points, a point ahead of Enugu Rangers.
Remo Stars will next face Abia Warriors on May 8.
Elsewhere, Kwara United had to come from behind to earn a 2-1 win against league leaders, Rivers United in Ilorin.
Nelson Esor scored an early goal in the second minute for Rivers United but Samad Kadiri and Jide Fatokun scored two goals in the second half to hand the Harmony Boys a vital win over the Port Harcourt-based side.
Heartland FC also edged Abia Warriors 2-1.
Murphy Ndukwu and Nonso Nzediegwu scored for Heartland while Godwin Obaje scored his eighth league goal of the season for Abia Warriors in the 33rd minute.
A 57th-minute strike from Destiny Ashadi gave Katsina United a 1-0 win over holders, Akwa United after Tosin Omoyele’s 12th-minute goal was ruled out for an offside.
Lobi Stars recorded a 2-1 triumph over Nasarawa United.
Ogba Ifeanyi and Utim Godwin had given the host a two-goal lead before Tochukwu Amaechi reduced the deficit for Nasarawa United from the penalty spot in the 93rd minute.
Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars settled for a barren draw in Akure.
