The Remo Football Referee Society rounded up 2021 with its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Elder Idowu’s residence, near Will of God Hostel, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State on the last day of the year (December 31, 2021).
The society at the AGM stated its activities and successes in the year.
“Within the short period of our administration, our society has recorded the following: pull out of our elders, launching of four different sets of uniforms, invitation of our young upcoming referees to FIFA MA Course and promotion to Apex league in the country in the person of Idowu Samuel, different matches were being officiated by our members both within and outside Remoland, increase in number of our grade one referees, our members are officiating at different cadres of the league, highest producer of young referees in Ogun State, almost 100% passed in Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) endurance test on a yearly basis, and best performing young referees in the just-concluded state endurance test in person of Oworu Dumininu, Oworu Daniel, and Awodein Michael.” Says the Chairman of the Society Rtd. Engr. Referee Samson Adegboyega during his welcome address.

Training Officer of the society, Sowunmi Matthew also recounted the successes of referees in the zone.
He said: “Our members now officiate numerous matches with little or no supervision. They have officiated matches involving Remo Stars FC, FC Ebedei, Remo League, Community Cups, Scouting Cup, Gold Cup, Animal Care Competition, Adron Games, and several other matches from coaches and individual groups.
In addition, we now have 11 active grade one referees in all cadres of Nigeria football leagues; one in the NPFL, seven in the NNL, and three in the NLO. Nine out of our eleven league referees went for the national fitness test held at Ijebu Ode and we recorded 82% pass rate.”
The AGM was attended by the Council Chairman, ably represented by the State Training Officer, Rtd. Ref. Aregbesola Sixtus; Secretary Remo Football Council, Coach Lekan Adeniji; Chairman Remo Coaches Association, Rev. Olukoya Olusanya; Chairman Sagamu Coaches Association, Coach Abbey Adebayo; Second Vice Chairman of the State Council, Elder Idowu; Chairman Remo Football Referee, Engr. Oworu and other members of the Society.
