Barcelona youth Academy product Jean Marie Dongou has had his contract terminated with Segunda side CD Lugo.
With the transfer deadline shutting to shut down on the second of September, free agents, club rejects and exciting footballers are looking to pen down deals before the helter-skelter deadline day. This is not the case with Jean Marie Dongou.
The forward once tipped to be the heir of Samuel Eto’o has parted ways with CD Lugo after just one season with the second-tier side, constantly being loaned out and finding game time few and far between.
Dongou’s performances have dropped and when talking about Cameroon prospects at the moment he is down the perking order.
The lad born in Douala, Cameroon moved to the academy of Spanish giant’s FC Barcelona from the Samuel Eto’o Academy in 2012. At the time, he caught the eye and moved several ranks in the youth setups but got just a trio of caps from 2013-2016 as he wasn’t able to break into Barca’s first team due to some insane talents.
Since leaving Barcelona, Dongou has become a journey man, playing for inferior teams in Spain. The forward has been unstable with moves to Zaragoza (1 season), Gimnastic (1 season), Lleida Esportiu (loan), CD Lugo (1 season).
Dongou is yet to get an appearance with the senior national team of Cameroon after playing with the Cameroon U20.
