Former Cameroon Indomitable Lions striker and current president of the Cameroon Football Federation-FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o Fils has expressed gratitude after being honored by management of Spanish top flight side, Real Mallorca.
The club on Sunday January 2, 2022 unveiled a Mural containing a painted image of the African football legend before the team’s game against giants Barcelona FC in the Spanish top tier football championship, La Liga.
Samuel Eto’o Fils also gave the kick-off of the game between the two sides on the night.
The ex-forward received the honor from Real Mallorca as part of the club’s recognition of the contribution of the former striker to the development of the club.
“What an honor to have my career at Real Mallorca memorialized like this! Real Mallorca put me on the map in the early days of my international career and is still is still one of the favorites ever played for.” Eto’o tweeted on his official Twitter handle shortly after Sunday’s game where he got recognized.
Samuel Eto’o Fils’ career in Spain took up real shape while the forward played for Real Mallorca initially on loan from Real Madrid and later on a permanent deal.

Eto’o Fils’ good form helped Mallorca win the Spanish Cup, Copa Del Rey in 2003.
His performance at the club helped set his career on fast-developing track. He left the club and featured for giants, Barcelona FC where he won over half a dozen titles with the Catalans including a treble during the 2009/2010 season and at Inter Milan in Italy where he achieved similar fits a year later.
The forward who stands as Cameroon Indomitable Lion’s all-time lead scorer is widely heralded and respected worldwide for his contribution to the growth of football after a rich career that saw the star play in Italy, Turkey, England and Russia at the club level and win two Africa Cup of Nations titles for Cameroon at the international level plus an Olympic gold medal.
His recent election as the president of the Cameroon Football Federation, sparked further excitement on the African continent thanks to a rich career nurtured and exposed at the Spanish outfit, Real Mallorca.
