The General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Rasheed Balogun, has assured the teeming fans of the club of the team’s readiness to get back to action anytime the league resumes.

Although uncertainty surrounds the 2019/20 season with speculations that the season has been canceled, the 3SC boss, declared that whatever decision is arrived at, his team will be in perfect shape to return to action.

Allaying the fears of supporters and fans of the Oluyole Warriors during a live radio programme on Petals102.3 FM, Balogun, revealed that despite the break, occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, his players are in good condition.
He also hinted that all the players in the fold of the club have made their intentions to remain with the club known, not minding the eventual decision taken by the football ruling body as regards the 2019/20 season.

“I want to inform all our fans that all our players are doing good, I personally monitor them during this lockdown period, likewise the team manager as well as the coaches, we monitor them on daily basis.

“We at the management level are not toying with the welfare of the players, thanks to the ever-supportive number one supporter of the club, His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State.

“The coaches, work daily on their fitness, they know how they are doing it, even though there is difference between individual training and collective training”, stated the former Julius Berger, Sunshine Stars, and Dolphins of Port Harcourt top shot.

He added that the current Oluyole Warriors squad is like one big family, saying. “If you see us, we do things together even inside the dressing room, we relate very well”.

Speaking on the magic wand behind keeping the players together, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, which has affected many clubs, Balogun, attributed it to the full backing of the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
“This month of May, the players got paid on the 21st, we have been on break since December, yet the players get their salaries at when due”.

On whether the club should be privatised, the 3SC boss, who described the club as not only of Oyo State or Nigeria but West Africa, stressed that the issue could only be addressed by the owners of the club.

When asked if the club has any affiliation with any foreign club, he revealed that there were advance plans to get affiliated with some clubs like Valencia and Sevilla from Spain but the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic stalled the plans.
“Affiliation is good, it will even help in exposing our players but I am sure when we get to the elite league, like on the issue of sponsorship, where companies are waiting for us to get to the premier league before coming on board, clubs will also wish to affiliate with 3SC”, added Balogun.
