Super Falcons of Nigeria coach, Randy Waldrum says he can’t wait to commence work with the Super Falcons.
Waldrum who replaced Swede coach, Thomas Dennerby after the latter left his position as Falcon’s handler in 2019 had an interactive session with some of the Falcons players like Asisat Oshoala, Onome Ebi, Osinachi Ohale, and Ini Umotong via social media, Waldrum says he is looking forward to meeting them.
“Had a great time meeting the players a few weeks ago! Can’t wait to get started with them!” he wrote on his Twitter handle.
The 64-year-old will work with former Falcons goalkeeper Ann Chiejine, who is the first Assistant Coach, and Sunshine Queens Coach, Wemimo Matthew, who is the second Assistant Coach.
In October 2017, Waldrum was appointed to be a technical adviser and head coach of the Falcons ahead of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualification but turned down the offer.
After turning down the Falcons coaching job, Waldrum was appointed as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Panthers in December 2017.
He was head coach of the Trinidad and Tobago women’s national team between 2014 and 2016.
Super Falcons have played at every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since inception in 1991 with their best finish at the USA 1999 Tournament where they got to the quarter-final stage.
