The divorce between Raja de Casablanca and the Belgian coach Marc Wilmots, was made on Sunday evening, at the end of a meeting of the steering committee where members voted unanimously for the departure of the Belgian tactician and his staff.
The 52-year-old arrived the Casablanca based side in November last year, but since his arrival he has failed to improve on the club’s performance.
The club was five Points behind Wydad in the league, but upon his arrival the points increased to eight points leading to his sacking.
The victory brought from Algeria against the Entente de Setif, on the occasion of the second day of the group stage of the Champions League did not ultimately change anything in the determination of the members of the Raja executive Committee bureau to sack the Belgian technician.
The Belgian tactician leaves the club with a record of 4 wins, 4 draws and 2 defeats. His divorce should cost the club a sum of 2 million dirhams as mentioned by El Botola.
Before his appointment, Wilmots had managed the Belgian National team between May 2012 and July 2016 , where he led the Red Devils to the quarter-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and that of the UEFA EURO in 2016.
He has also had spells with the Iraqi National team, Shalke04 and Sint-Truiden.
