Al-Rayyan midfielder Franck Kom scored his side’s lone goal in the 1-1 draw in this Thursday’s Qatar Stars league encounter away at Al Ahli.
The experienced Cameroonian started in the match-day seven encounter which was a clash of two Clubs with title ambitions.
The first segment of the game failed to produce a goal as both sides attacked occasionally with caution.
The second segment was not any different but the the visitors dominated proceedings.
Franck Kom finally opened scores for the visitors in the 77th minute of the game when he benefited from an assist from Ivorian international Yohan Alexandre Mady Boli.
The goal forced the host to be more offensive to at least win a point at home.
Just when Al-Rayyan thought they were settling for three points, French-born Moroccan international Nabil El Zhar stepped up and converted a spot-kick to make it 1-1 in the 95th minute.
Both sides failed to get another goal in the remaining two minutes of added time, leaving the final score at 1-1.
The point leaves Al-Rayyan with on the fourth spot with 11 points from seven Qatar Stars league games this season.
They face 10th-placed Al Arabi in their next league encounter on Tuesday.
Kom’s goal is the first of the season for the 29-year-old 14-capped Cameroonian.
It is the second season at the Club for multiple CAF Champions League winner once of Esperance of Tunis.
