Founded 2008, Cairo based Egyptian club Pyramid targets their first Caf Confederation Cup title but have two hurdles to Cross. The first being the semi final against Guinean side, Horoya FC slated for today.
Founded in 1975, Horoya FC of Guinea also targets their first ever CAF Confederation Cup.
kick442.com takes a look at both club’s journey from the group stages.
Pyramids finished top of group A with 15 Points from possible 18, meaning they lost just a game and won five in a group that has Enugu Rangers and Al Masry. Their 15 points was the highest gathered by any side in the group stages of this season’s CAF Confederations Cup.
In the quarter finals they defeated Zambia’s Zanaco FC on a 3-1 aggregate to set up a semi final date with Horoya FC.
Horoya FC like Pyramids also finished top of their group although one might say they have a relatively easy group compared to Pyramids. They also amazed the second best point from the group stages with 14 points from possible 18. They had a much more tougher quarter final against two times back to back CAF Champions League winner Enyimba FC of Aba Nigeria which they won on a 3-1 aggregate.
Tonight having lost only a game since the start of the group stages, Horoya FC will look to take down one of the tournament’s favorite Pyramid FC of Egypt in a one legged semi final.
Pyramid on the other hand will do everything within their power to set up an all North African final against Morrocan’s RSD Berkane.
Will it be an all North African affair on Sunday or will it be the side from Guinea that will join RSD Berkane in the final?
