Match preview: PWD VS COLOMBE, whose unbeaten run will be ended?

PWD Social club of Bamenda and Colombe of the Dja and Lobo meets for the first time in the Cameroon top tier championship this Sunday February 10, 2019, at the Yong sport Academy stadium in Mile six Nkwen.

THE UNBEATEN RUNS.
The stakes of the encounter are high, with some records to protect. PWD is unbeaten at home in their last 15 league matches, and was the only team to go throughout last season, without suffering a single defeat at home. In fact the Abakwa Boys unbeaten at home, since Jean Baptiste Toguem took over as head coach.
On their part, Colombe can boast of one of the longest unbeaten streak in the era of the LFPC, as the team has gone 17 league games now without a defeat. The last time colombe tasted defeat in the Cameroon top flight, was on match day 18 of last season, when they lost 1#2 at home to New Stars. So at the end the game this Sunday, three things are certain. Either a draw maintains the unbeaten run for both sides, a PWD win ends Colombe’s unbeaten run, and vice versa.

RECENT FORM

Both sides are coming from impressive wins on match day one. PWD defeated Apejes at home 2#1, while Colombe recorded a resounding 3#1 away win over New stars. The will to maintain their good start to the season, will make the game more interesting.

PLAYERS

PWD’s new signing Serge Manga, will be facing his former team barely a month after he left them for P=Ton Ton. Last year he scored three league goals for Colombe and opening his PWD’s account against his former club, might make sweeter.
Colombe’s main man at the back, Djob Lidjoh Bienvenue will face his former coach for the first time. Djob played under Coach Jean Baptiste Toguem at National Polytechnic, before moving to Colombe.
Colombe’s right back, Yvan Megaptche Ngansop will be returning to a terrain he knows very much, during his time with YOSA.

17 year old Junior Lionel Bandga of Colombe is the second top scorer in the league after his brace against New stars last week, and can give PWD’s defenders a good run for the money.
Kongnyuy Jude scored in PWD’s last game and his made known his desires of being amongst the top scorers. His experience will be massive for “Ngia P”.

TEAM NEWS

Coach Jean Baptiste Toguem of PWD confirmed that the only player in the treatement room, John Paul Nzo Ngong is 95 percent fit for the game but was disappointed that the transfer formalities of one of his hottest prospects, Owen Mbeh Mikel are not yet completed, with his former club still keep his liberation. So the striker might likely miss this Sunday’s fixture, same too as his former teammate, Njang Romeo.

Coach Charlemagne Mbongo named his 18 man squad for the game with one change upfront where Mimong Donald comes in for El Kass Pameli, and has been in Bamenda with his team since Friday February 8, 2019. They had a training session in Bamenda on Saturday morning.

History

On the 15 November 1992,Colombe came to Bamenda needing a win to stay in the top flight while PWD needed just a draw,Colombe scored an 82nd minutes goal in a game played without supporters and beat PWD 1 nil to cause PWD’s relegation to the lower Leagues,PWD fans still remember that day.
