One of Cameroon’s representative in this season’s CAF interclubs competition, PWD of Bamenda, have decided to change their home ahead of the new campaign.
kick442.com understands the Limbe Omnisport stadium which was the home ground of PWD during last year’s short run in the CAF Champions League has been replaced by the Bafoussam Omnisport Stadium in Kouekong.
We understand the club has informed the Confederation of African Football to that effect.
On paper, the decision looks like a perfect one as during PWD’s run to the 2021 cup of Cameroon success many of their games were played in the West Region and the team ticked better.
The fact that the Stadium in Bafoussam meets the standards and was used for the 2021 AFCON, kick442.com understands CAF will grant the club’s wish.
PWD will know their opponents in the first preliminary stages of the 2022-2023 CAF Confederation Cup on Tuesday, August 9 and the game will be played next month in Bafoussam.
The club’s last participation in the CAF Confederation Cup was over a decade ago, and produced some unforgettable moments – the highlight being the 1-0 win against TP Mazembe in Douala.
Cotonsport of Garoua who are Cameroon’s other flagbearers will engage in continental brawls in Garoua.
Contrary to Cotonsport who will stay in the same venue for domestic league matches, PWD Social Club of Bamenda will return to the Northwest capital – Bamenda for domestic matches if FECAFOOT opts not to retain the format used in the previous season.
PWD will start preparations for the new campaign on Tuesday, August nine in Bamenda, same day the club is expected to announce the head of the new technical crew.
