The entourage of former Esperance of Tunis assistant manager Othmen Najjar has contacted PWD of Bamenda about the vacant managerial position following the departure of serial winner David Pagou 24 hours ago, kick442.com has gathered.
The 48-year-old, who is the current head coach of UAE top-flight side Dibba Al Hisn SC is keen to get back into work in Africa and is excited about experience being a part of the Pascal Abunde led PWD Social Club project.
Othmen, Holder of CAF and AFC License A plus a Masters degree in physical education has a wealth of experience in the game on the continent and coaching having spent close to two decades on the job.
Kick442.com understands contact has been made with officials of PWD who are keen on improving the club’s quality ahead of the Continental and domestic season.
Coach Othmen’s last job on the continent was in the 2020-2021 season. That campaign he finished as champion of the Tunisian Premier League and reached the quarter final of the CAF Champions League.
Winner of seven trophies in a glittering stint mostly as deputy coach of Esperance of Tunis, the former Club Sportif Cuba of Tunisia defender cum trainer is a serious option for any good coaching job.
If selected Othmen, the Tunisian would be the Abakwa Boys’ first foreign manager to take charge of PWD in their close to six decades history.
Former Fovu manager Olivier Nankam and current Astre trainer Anicet Mbarga Foe are also linked the 2020 Cameroon champions. Both trainers have a strong knowledge of the Cameroon Elite One Championship and working to a tight budget, something they did at other clubs.
The days ahead promise to be busy for officials of PWD given that their season in the Continebtal scene starts in less than two months and Berinyuy Derick and co need a good guide in their quest to reach the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
