PWD of Bamenda

When PWD of Bamenda step out this weekend at the Middle Farms Stadium in Limbe, they will be squaring up against Fovu of Baham for the first time in the League one since 18th August 2005 and it will be just their 3rd ever meeting in the first Division. Both sides got promoted to the topflight championship two seasons ago for Fovu and last season for PWD. This weekend’s meeting is very crucial for both sides as they look forward to add to their one win in two games and move closer to safety.

Coach Augustine Choupo with his unbeaten PWD side that beat Kohi Maroua midweek will confront a confident Fovu side that have won two games in a spin following their midweek win over Fauve.

PWD Social Club of Bamenda just like Fovu of Bamenda could move closer than to survival with a win though a draw will be a fair result for both sides.

To keep their destiny in their hands,PWD of Bamenda just like Fovu of Baham must win to keep their survival destiny in their hands.

Both sides will be meeting in the first division for the first time in over 15 years and just the 5th time in League one and two history. Both sides were in competition for promotion to League 1 in the 2017 Cameroon League 2 season.

Fovu then guided by Augustine Choupo got promoted while PWD only survived under the guidance of coach Jean Baptiste Toguem who will have PWD promoted a year after but lost his job to Augustine Choupo in the second half of this campaign.

Augustine Choupo who coincidentally guided Fovu to inflict the last home defeat on PWD on the Saturday 30th September 2017 now have the duty to look for the Abakwa boys second win against the Baham boys which will be PWD’s first win over Fovu since April 27 2005.

Fovu of Baham are also on a run of 2 wins, a draw and 2 defeats in the last 5 games in the League one championship.

Second season for Fovu since their return

PWD of Bamenda come into this one with multiple very confident players but will rely more on the goal scoring ability of lead scorer Kongyuy Jude who has been on target on 6 occasions this season. His form alongside that of returning Mondi Kagawa and Louiz Mbah is going to be key for coach Choupou in this one. Fovu on the other hand will count on the form of of forwards Victor Mengue and Njongmu Rudolph who have nettted 9 times this season. Rudolph scored his 4th league goal this term in the club’s last league outing against New Stars and being a former player of PWD’s cross town rival YOSA he will be hyper motivated for this one.

It promises to be an interesting game this Sunday in Limbe.
