The Red Eagles of Tunisia got their first win of the handball world cup after four games beating fellow Africans Dr Congo on Saturday.
The 2020 CAHB Men’s African Championship silver medallists, showed their dominance when it comes to playing Congo as they won by 16 points difference.
Dr Congo had got their first IHF Men’s World Championship victory a couple of days ago against fellow African brothers Angola, but were brought back to earth by the north African side.
It was a cagey one at the opening quarter as Tunisia were off to a slow start, but it was the Eagles who had the edge at the end of the first phase winning by 17 points to Congo’s 13.
By the second half, it was Tunisia in cruise control, scoring 10 as against their opponent’s 2 in the first 10 minutes. The game was beyond the reach of the Congolese at this time.
The game ended with Tunisia winning by a 16-goal margin one shot of the 17-goal advantage win over Dr. Congo at the African championship in 2020.
Tunisia play Angola on Monday (25 January). Due to Cape Verde’s withdrawal, Congo will have three days off until their next match on Wednesday (27 January) and will await the results of the remaining President’s Cup group matches.
