DR Congo took the lead against Angola in the last minute to secure their first ever Men’s World Championship win on Thursday.
The only President’s Cup tie for the day between two Africans brought a stiff and inciting battle as Dr. Congo won the tie at the nick of time.
It was Angola who were on the front foot at the beginning as the fourth placed team at the 2020 African Championship took the lead in the first half 15:13.
And so it was in the second half. However, the two-goal advantage could not be relied upon as Congo kept pushing to take the game from their fellow Africans.
With equalling the score, Democratic Republic of Congo were pumped up to go for the win and that they did. Few minutes to the end of the game, they scored the goal that settled the scores. A goal advantage it was and that was all they needed to get their first win at the handball mundial.
Edvaldo Ferreira for Angola and Johan Kiangebeni for DR Congo were crucial to the game complexion as the top scorers net eight goals apiece.
