Super Eagles and South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) Kaizer Chief goal keeper, Daniel Akpeyi has been voted as PSL Player of the month of November, 2019.

The former Chippa United goalie earned the award after a wonderful showings for his South African side in recent games including man of the match performances.

Daniel Akpeyi kept two (2) clean sheets for Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) during Nigeria’s first two group matches against Burundi and Guinea.

Akpeyi reacted after receiving the award thus:
“It is (award) a big surprise to me but it also shows the importance of putting effort forward in whatever you do. I give credit to the technical team who have been patient with me.”

Akpeyi was also in between the sticks for Super Eagles in their round of 16, quarter final and semi final fixtures against Cameroon, South Africa and Algeria respectively during 2019 AFCON.
He lost his place to Francis Uzoho after the competition as he wasn’t called up for friendly matches against Ukraine and Brazil before returning to the national team after injury to Uzoho. He kept for super Eagles during their last two (2) 2021 AFCON Qualifiers win over Benin Republic and Lesotho.
