The indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon are set to get into the last phase of their preparations for the 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations scheduled to kick-off in Morocco early next month.
Coach Gabriel Zabo’s side are fresh from a double header friendly games against their Senegalese counterparts, games which the lionesses drew one and won one. AS AWA’s forward Kevin Ossol scored in the second minute to earn Cameroon a hard fought one_zero win over Senegal at the Reunification stadium in Douala on Saturday, after the previous game at ended two goals on either side.
With the lionesses set to jet off to France on Monday, where they will fine-tune preparations before heading to Morocco, defenders Claudine Falone Meffometou Tcheno and Éliane Mambo Lambo, have spoke about the lessons learned from the first training camp in Douala.
“There were two good matches for us to evaluate ourselves and in front of us we had a good Senegalese side. We gave the best of us despite the errors. it is time to scrub the errors because we have the competition that is coming up and a friendly game against France on the 25th. I think we’re ready and will give our best,” Falone Meffometou who has featured in the AFCON, world cup and Olympics, said via the lionesses communication department.
Falone appeared to had picked up an injury in their last game against Senegal, but played down fears of the injury being serious.
On her part, Éliane Mambo Lambo, who scored a superb free kick in their 2#2 draw against Senegal, says they must work harder in order to achieve their objectives.

“The work plan during this training camp went on well. I think the coaches gave us everything we needed. we played the double header against Senegal. Though the first game didn’t give the results we wanted, because Senegal is a team we didn’t know we’ll, so we needed some time to observe them. They’re a very good side. we changed the game plan during the second game and we scored an early goal.
” we will continue working hard, as we prepare for the next game against France,” Said Mambo Lambo.
Cameroon is lodged in group B of the competition, alongside Zambia, Tunisia and Togo.
