The U-17 Lions of Coach Anicet Mbarga Foe recorded another emphatic victory as they continue their preparation for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Goals from Baning Bibout and Pagning Yamendjeu ensured that the victory run for the side continued on Saturday, February 20 at the Omnisport Annex 1 Stadium in Yaounde as the said defeated Fondation Tafi 5-2.
Ekongolo opened the scoring for Cameroon at the 28mins. Two quick goals before the referee’s first-half whistle gave Cameroon a 3-0 lead.
Pagning Yamendjeu scored the U-17 Lions’ second goal at the 41mins and Baning Bibout added the third at the 45+1mins.
Fondation then regrouped at the halftime mark and hit Cameroon for two at the start of the second half. Fondation Tafi scored two goals at the 48mins, to bring the score to 3-2.
Cameroon then recovered the grove they had in the first half as they scored their fourth goal through Mballa at the 56mins.
Noh Nafeng Yvan rounded up the scoring for team Cameroon, as he scored the fifth and last goal at the 70mins. This was the sixth warm-up game for the U-17 selection of the country.
Cameroon is actively preparing for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. The team has been having a series of training exercises in Yaounde, where they are camping.
The U-17 AFCON will be Cameroon’s eighth participation and they will be hoping to win the competition as they have done so twice previously.
The draw for the tournament comes up Wednesday, February 24 in Nouakchott, Mauritania. The competition which will be in its 14th edition will run from 13 March to 31 March in Morocco.
