Cameroon league one champions, PWD of Bamenda have beaten Cameroon league two side, Foncha Street FC in a pre-season friendly match played Thursday October 29, 2020 in Bamenda.
Playing without coach Pagou David and players like Nchindo John Bosco, Yankam Basile on duty with the intermediate lions of Cameroon, PWD struggled to impose their playing style in front of well compact Foncha Street FC team put in place by coach Njiki Simplice.
Both teams used the first 10minutes of the match to observe each other while trying to impose their own playing style.
With Awallu Sale, Menghze Alain Sifor and Jude Kongnyuy posing a lot of problems to the PWD defense line maned by Hamzat Ibrahim and Fegue Omgba.
The pressure from Foncha Street FC will pay off at the 15th minute of play when goalkeeper Damlabeu Cedrick failed to get hold of a shot from Tizie Aloysius. The loose ball fell to the onrushing Jude Kongnyuy, who fired home a shot to give Foncha Street FC the lead.
PWD’s Tama Wango then proceeded to conduct three substitutes. The substitution paid off at the 42nd minute of play when Aboubakar Mohammed picked up control of the ball at the edge of the 18m area to level scores for PWD.
In the second half of the match, the both teams brought in a completely new team with PWD having a more experience team with the likes of Burinyuy Derrick, Boung Joel Ondoa, Ngwang Brian, Ndeh Collins amongst others.
Despite all the pressure from a very dominant PWD side, Foncha Street FC was able to hold on to keep the scores at one all till the last minute of the match when Tchaoua Leger surprised goalkeeper Adarine Mohammed from the corner spot to give PWD the victory in the encounter.
