Ahead of the commencement of next season Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Akwa United and Enugu Rangers prepared for the upcoming season with a pre season friendly match.

Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rangers were 2-0 better than Akwa United Football Club.

There was a brilliant opening to the game by both sides. But it’s the Promise Keepers (Akwa United) that has the first attempt at goal from Paul Obata but his effort is kept out.
In the 12th minute, Itodo Akor spills James Loute’s shot and Ibrahim Dauda calmly tucks it in to make it Enugu Rangers 1-0 Akwa United.

In the second half, Akwa United made some substitutions in order to salvage a draw in the game. Paul Obata and Morice Chukwu are replaced by Ubong Friday and Ndubuisi Ekwuruibe. Ekemini Ukoebe and Ahmed Rashid make way for Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Ocheme Edoh.

Alas, in the 70th minute, James Loute’s beautifully taken free-kick flies into the top right corner to make it Enugu Rangers 2-0 Akwa United.

Enugu Rangers will know their next round opponents in the CAF Confederation Cup on October 9, 2019 while Akwa United and other NPFL sides awaits the Draws and date for the commencement of the league.
