Divisional League outfit Istanbul Football Academy (IFAB) has defeated regional League club Prisons Social Club of Buea 3-0 in a friendly encounter played this Saturday, February 20 in Buea.
Prisons started by bossing the game in the opening 11mins of the game, with Kuda coming close to getting an equalizer. Prisons had several chances during the encounter but the finishing was not there for the side.
But a lapse in judgment from the Prisons goalkeeper saw him conceded a penalty, bringing down Tabot in the box. The harsh tackle saw Tabot being substituted at just the 12mins of the game. Nguindjel Patrick stepped up and converted the penalty, scoring Istanbul’s first goal at the 16mins.
As Prisons pressed for an equalizer, it was Istanbul that went 2-0 before the first half. Thiery Atubeh scored Istanbul’s second goal at the 39mins.
It was all Istanbul at the opening minutes of the second half. Fonyuy Boris then made sure the victory was Istanbul’s netting the side’s third goal of the game at the 58mins.
This is Prisons six friendly game the team has been involved in as they look to be a match fit for the resumption of the SW Regional League and the Cup of Cameroon. In all their friendly games, Prisons has succeeded in winning three games, two defeats and one draw.
I am not disappointed in the result as in every friendly match you have different outcomes. The outcome today was looking at what we did in the week and if they did put it into practice all that we worked during the week and I am satisfied. The bad side is that it is not always good to lose matches,” Enang Severin, Coach of Prisons FC told kick442.com
Like Prisons, Istanbul is using the friendly games to prepare for the launch of the Divisional League and the preliminary round of the Cup of Cameroon. The start of both the Divisional League and Cup of Cameroon has yet to be communicated.
“We are still undergoing our preparations. We are trying to see how we are going to begin the championship especially the Cup of Cameroon. We are looking at some friendly matches before we play Option Sport (Preliminary round for the Cup of Cameroon) so that we can evaluate the children,” Ache Ebenezar, Istanbul FA Coach told kick442.com
It should be noted that in the days ahead both Istanbul FA and Prisons will be having other friendly encounters. Both sides are in discussions with teams in Tiko for friendly encounters.
