Cameroon born pair Anthony Elanga and Bryan Mbeumo both scored when their teams; Manchester United and Brentford met in a pre-season friendly held on Wednesday July 28 in England.
Youngster Anthony Elanga launched the scoring for the Red Devils at the 12th minute of the highly entertaining game at Old Trafford. The teenager netted in a sublime volley to put the home side ahead.
But the English Premier League newcomers brought parity to the game 8 minutes later as forward Shandon Baptiste tricked United third choice keeper, Tom Heaton to level scores in the game before the first half break.
The Red Devils re-launched the encounter early on in the second segment increasing tally to 2-1 with a brilliant finish from midfielder Andreas Pereira almost 25 meters from the goal post.
Brentford in their show of character and near lack-of respect for the Premier League chair-leaders, Manchester United, drew the match to parity 12 minutes to stoppage time.
The team found the back of the net through Cameroonian born French U21 national side, Bryan Mbeumo. The second half substitute calmly leveled the game to ensure the Cameroonian natives stole the show in Manchester.
Youngsters in search of EPL glory
Bryan Mbeumo who joined Brentford from newly promoted French top tier side, Troyes in 2019 will be expecting to continue his good this season after successfully adapting to the English game with almost relative ease, having grabbed several awards after his arrival including the English Football League Player of the Year and Youth Player of the Year in compensation for his over 16 goals for the then English Championship team during the 2019-2020 season.
His fellow Cameroonian born, Anthony Elanga, 19, of Swedish nationality will also be hoping to receive game time at Manchester United in a near star-studded Red Devils attack dominated amongst others by new signee, Jadon Sancho, fellow youngster Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and veteran Edinson Cavani.
Cameroonian will also be hoping to see the pair playing for the Cameroon senior men’s national football team, the Indomitable Lions.
