Cameroonians in attendance of the 1-1 draw between Cameroon and Uganda on Friday at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde can quickly agree that Intermediate Lions forward Alfred Meyong A Etong was one of the standout performers for the host in the game.
The Stade Renard of Melong forward created difficulties constantly in the wings for the Uganda cranes with his incisive moves and his dribbling and wicked crosses into the box.
Meyong’s pace forced Uganda Ben Ocen to be sent off early in the game after leaving what appeared to be a stray elbow on the face of the forward.
His multiple crosses in the course of the game unfortunately failed to find the desired end product but in all it was a standout performance from the forward who lasted 78 minutes.
The 29-year-old winner of the 2018 cup of Cameroon with Eding Sport de la Lekie is one of the most exciting winger in the Cameroon team.
Cameroon face Niger on Monday in an eagerly-awaited fixture before facing Zambia on January 7 in the third preparations game this January.
The intermediate Lions of Cameroon open their CHAN 2020 campaign on January 16th against Zimbabwe.
The host will face Mali and Burkina Faso later in the 16 nations tournament expected to run January 16 to February 7 across four cities in Cameroon.
