The intermediate Lions of Cameroon have recorded a 1-1 draw against visitors Akonangi FC from a friendly game played at the CAF Excellence center in Mbankomo-Cameroon this Saturday.
The Guinean side made the boys of coach Martin Ntoungou Mpile to work for the results in the early kick off.
Both sides failed to find the back if the net in the first segment of the game but came alive after the break.
Akonangi FC took the lead in the second segment through former Fovu of Baham goalkeeper Emmanuel Mahopp, but experienced midfielder Patrick Mevoungo converted a last-gasp spot-kick to level matters and extend the unbeaten run under coach Martin Ntoungou Mpile to five games and counting.
Anye Derick and his mates will continue training at the CAF Excellence center in anticipation of more friendly games and readiness for the competition when it kicks off on January 16.
Cameroon are host of the competition and open their campaign against Zimbabwe on January 16, before facing Mali and Burkina Faso later in the three weeks tourney expected to climax on February 7th.
