Chipolopolo of Zambia will in today’s encounter combat with Niger in day two of the Pre-CHAN 2020 tournament.
Both sides will clash for the first time since their arrival in Cameroon some days ago. This will be at 4:00pm at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Annex1 stadium.
The tournament involves host Cameroon, Niger, Zambia and Uganda. And will run from January 1-7, 2021
Zambia
Zambia made her way in to Cameroon Thursday December 31, 2021 with a total of 24 players. Their first training session was held same day of arrival at 4pm
The Chipolopolo grabbed a ticket to Cameroon through 3-2 on aggregate despite being held to a 2-2 draw at home by Eswatini. The Chipolopolo won 1-0 in the first leg and that result ended up being the most important as it earned them a ticket to Cameroon
Guinea, Tanzania, and Namibia complete group D and are expected to Lodge in Limbe for the CHAN.
Zambia’s best performance of the CHAN was during the inaugural tournament in Ivory Coast under Frenchman Herve Renard in 2009. In 2016 and 2018, under the stewardship of coach George Lwandamina and Wedson Nyirena respectively only managed to get reached the quarter-finals.
Niger
Coach Harouna Doula Gabde of Niger and his 28 man’s squad made their way into Cameroon January 1, 2021. They also had their first training session at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Annex2.
Niger while in Cameroon, will take part in the Pre-CHAN tournament January 1-7 and the CHAN January 16 to February 7, 2021.
Niger will face Libya, DR Congo and Congo in their group stage of pool B.
Niger have been involved in a series of friendlies against Mali and Morocco, separating in a one all draw against the former and a 0#2 defeat to the latter.
The Mena defeated Cote Divoire 2-1 on aggregate to grab a ticket to the CHAN.
