The Intermediate lions of Cameroon have separated with with Uganda Cranes in 1#1 game
This was in the opener of the Pre-CHAN Mini Tournament played at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium Friday January 1, 2020.
The boys of coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile have succeeded in halting a second defeat since the arrival of head coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile. Ironically they have extended draws to five.
Visiting side Cranes of Uganda launched the early start of the game with so much enthusiasm. They led the game during kick-off this, one can say was an opportunity for both sides to settle on level grounds.
The grounds became uncomfortable for Uganda at the 11th minute of play where a red card was awarded to Ben Oshen. This then gave in an opportunity to the lions to show how prepared they are for the CHAN 2020.
A beautiful one was sent in from Felix Oukine giving room to Banga Bidjeme who went with a headed and swiped pass goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa of Uganda to give the lions the lead.
Before the end first 45 minutes which ended Intermediate lions 1-0 Uganda, the lions dominated the game taking the 11 over 10 advantage.
Coach Jonathan Mckinstry returned to the second segment with full flesh to get hold of the game. They countiued mounting pressure to a point were barely 25 minutes of play, the Cranes engaged in a counter attack which saw Kagimu Shafick bringing the game to an equalizer.
Intermediate lions 1-1 Uganda at the 69th minute. Both sides aim at utilising the game to their advantage ahead of the CHAN expected to run from January 16-7 February 2021.
The game finally ended the game on 10 players of either sides as right back Yamkam Basile earned a red card at the 90 minute.
The refrees whistle ended the game, with one goal on with side
The Pre-CHAN tournament involves Cameroon as host, Niger, Uganda and Zambia. The tournament will run till January 7, 2021.
This is still the first encounter for the tournament and first for both sides.
