The Confederation of African football, CAF, has written to all it members, to know their plans on how they intend to round off their various national competitions for the 2019_2020 season.
According to a letter dated April 26, and signed by CAF’s interim Secretary General Abdelmounaïm Bah, CAF has given up to May 05, 2020, to all the National Federations affiliated under CAF, to present their plans of finalizing the current season, which will in turn permit CAF to come out with an organization plan for the interclubs competitions, for next season.
The letter reads “With regards to the present circumstances, we wish to know the actual situation of your various league’s/Cups (Classification table, and number of matches left), and a strategy that you are intending to apply so as to finalize the competitions, or cancel them”.
“CAF is monitoring the situation with the parties concerned, at the end of which we will determine a date for a restart of our interclubs competitions, and also to help us determine in which possible measures we can engage teams for the next season”.
The letter further states that once CAF decides a date that Football activities can restart, they will also make known the dates that league’s are supposed to end, and formalities concerning the submission of the names and registration of players, and the date for the next season.
With this outing from CAF, the various federations will now get down to work, to come out with their draft programs on how they envisage to round-off their different national competitions.
With the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, Football activities all over the world were brought to a standstill, but it’s now clear that many countries are determined to finalize their league’s, with many European clubs already back to their training grounds, while in some countries, the 2019_2020 season has been cancelled.
